The Slaughter Family are the ruthless Cannibalistic Killers in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, where they will hunt down and kill the Victims before they can escape through one of the 4 exits around the map. There are up to eight different playable killers to choose from and 1 non-playable killer, each with their own strengths and weakness. The Family matches out 3-4 (not including Grandpa who is a non-player character), with there being more Victims players than Family member players. This means Victims have a slight advantage when it comes to being able to work efficiently when it comes to objectives, but will it be enough to save them?

History[]
The history of the Slaughter family is steeped in mystery and horror, with much of their past remaining hidden or lost to time. At the heart of this twisted lineage stands Grandpa, the patriarch of the family, who has been the guiding force behind their gruesome practices. While many details of the family's origins remain unclear, what is known is that Grandpa has at least three sons—The Cook, the oldest; Hitchhiker, the middle child; and Leatherface, the youngest. His wife, the matriarch of the family, had passed away long before the events that unfold, leaving Grandpa to lead the family into increasingly horrific territory.
Beyond these immediate sons, the family tree extends to distant relatives, each of whom plays a part in maintaining the Slaughter family's murderous legacy. Hands, Johnny, Sissy, Nancy, and Bones are all tied to the family, either by blood or by circumstance. Each contributes to the family's macabre existence, helping to perpetuate their reign of terror.
One of the most unsettling aspects of the Slaughter family is the long-standing nature of their killings. While the exact timeline is never fully revealed, there are hints throughout the family's twisted history that suggest their violent ways have been passed down through generations. A chilling reference to Grandpa in later events, "Why, old Grandpa was the best killer there ever was. Why, it never took more than one lick, they say," implies that the family has been killing for generations, possibly dating back to a time when Grandpa himself was a young man, honing his skills and passing them down to his sons.
The Slaughter family’s history is likely filled with countless unsolved murders and unexplained disappearances, with their cannibalistic and sadistic ways deeply ingrained in their tradition. Grandpa, as the oldest living member, holds the mantle of leadership, overseeing the family's bloody work while teaching his sons and extended family members the gruesome arts of killing and survival. Despite the passing of time, the family's horrifying practices continue, their legacy carried on by each new generation, ensuring that the darkness of the Slaughter family never fades.
Trivia[]
- In the game the Family overall is know as "The Slaughter Family". This was not mentioned in the first film directly, but was revealed by the creator, Kim Henkel, himself later on.
- The reason why the typical last name "Sawyer" from the later movies is not used in this game is because that name was created for the second movie the game's creators do not have the rights to use that name.
- The name "Hewitt" used in Reboot movies is also not used or correct in the game.
- Leatherface isn't given an official name other than "Leatherface".
- Chop-Top Sawyer, the twin brother of the Hitchhiker from the second movie, is neither included nor mentioned in the game because the developers were unable to secure the rights to the sequel. According to the canon of the second film, Chop-Top was serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War at the time of the first movie, which also coincides with the timeframe of the game.
- This is the first time in any game that it introduces all the characters from the first movie and had them playable.
- This is the first time that new members not in the film are shown in the Slaughter family is in the form of Johnny and Sissy.
- Three of the base family members have knives as their killing weapons.
- Family member "Bones" works at the cemetary in Newt, which Hitchhiker often travels to and messes with the graves at.
- Blood collection is stored in Vials.
- It had been confirmed by the developers that the game is canonical in the universe of the original 1974 film. In other words, Johnny, Sissy and Nancy are canon. They do not appear in the film for various different reasons. Johnny doesn't live in the Family House, and is with his "Mother." Sissy is travelling around the country, away from the family, thus these characters weren't in the film because they were doing other things. This was officially answered by Andy, a developer for the game in an interview.
