I don’t much enjoy this, some things just got to be done.

The Cook

The Cook is one of the members of The Slaughter Family who will hunt down and kill the Victims.

Lore[]

"The Cook "just can't take no pleasure in killing", but he seems to do just fine when called upon. The owner of the gas station and the head of the household now that Grandpa isn't able, The Cook knows each property like the back of his hand. His Seek ability is a reflection of this, letting him track down noisy Victims almost anywhere with relative ease. His Endurance is rather low, but his Savagery and Blood Harvesting are among the highest. Don't let the broken broom handle fool you, he can be lethal if needed."

Cook's history is mostly unknown, but he is currently the proprietor of the gas station and the head of the Slaughter Family. Cook is constantly struggling to maintain order in the household, now that Grandpa can no longer manage things due to his advanced age. Cook is perpetually annoyed by the chaos caused by the others, adding to the tension in the home. As the family’s cook, he prepares meals and BBQ, often made from human meat sourced from the family's victims. He serves these meals both to the family and at the gas station to customers. According to his brother, Hitchhiker, in the original 1974 film, Cook may have worked in the slaughterhouse alongside the rest of his family at some point. Perhaps because of this, he dislikes killing, stating that he "just can't take no pleasure in killing." However, this doesn’t mean he’s opposed to torturing victims, as he seems to take satisfaction in their suffering. When Maria Flores is abducted by the family after Johnny's assault, her friends set out to find her, eventually crossing paths with Cook. Though they ask the right questions, they ask them to the wrong person—Cook proves to be far too cunning, skillfully deflecting their inquiries and ensuring they uncover nothing, sealing their fate as future victims.

Realizing that Johnny has stirred up trouble and wanting to clean up the mess, Cook takes control of the situation. He warns the group that nightfall is approaching and that the area can be unpredictable after dark. With a seemingly helpful demeanor, he suggests, "Best y'all set up camp down in the back beyond the mesquite thicket and carry on with your search at sunrise."

Unaware of the trap, the group willingly steps right into it. Once they are in position, Cook orders the family to ambush them, leading to their capture and setting the stage for the harrowing events of the game.
